In the words of Papa Bear, "What does it meeeeean?"

Here is my blog post, in which I was paid to rant about how awesome the RS will be, and what it will mean for the industry, as long as I added a sales hook at the end.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

TL;DR/Didn't feel like clicking through: If human-driven cars ever become extinct, cars like this will be the first to go. Enthusiasts still ride horses today, and enthusiasts will still drive Ford GTs in 100 years. But normal commuter cars turned into insane rally cars won't be the ones to survive. And that's a big reason it's so awesome that Ford is doing this.

What's you guess on price? I honestly don't think that they can or will charge more than a Mustang GT for this.

It means the executive at Scooby who killed the hatch is getting the pink slip if this sells well.

It also means the evo is coming back, because IT DAMNED WELL BETTER.

All I know is that I really want one. Car enthusiasm is still alive in the mainstream for now (the people I know all drive manual relatively quick (for the UK) hatches and do at least minor repairs on their own cars) I just like to imagine it'll stay that way.

On a completely unrelated note, I've always chuckled at the "Papa Bear" nickname, because of what a "bear" means in the LGBT community.

As a disclaimer - I have nothing against republicans or the LGBT community. Im not saying O'Riely is a member of said community either. (ie; please don't sue me.)

Me too. And as an American, I'm glad Ford is making efforts to expand that feeling stateside.

I'm guessing you'll be able to spec one over $40k. They have to differentiate it enough from the ST.

Definitely a positive move that they're increasing choice worldwide. You guys get the awesome hot hatches, we get a Mustang with a euro friendly engine.

It will probably start in the mid-30's. What's the average new car transaction price these days, $32k? I'd say any highpowered AWD hatch slightly above that is well priced.

Do you think the base price will be higher than the V8 Mustang, though? I know it's a completely different target audience, but still... Focus ST starts at $24k, so a base price in the RS that's $6-7k more is significant.

Subaru sold 25,492 WRXs and STis in 2014. I'd guess that maybe 1/4 of those are the STi. I wonder how many people who have the older version will jump on an RS since it's a hatchback.

Oh, I thought the ST average was 30k. I guess I should have looked that up first. Here's hoping for a cheap RS, and ubiquitous, so I can buy a cheaper one used someday.

Like I'm hoping they sell the piss out of the GT4!
